Insight Global is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer from one our largest engineering clients out of Fridley, MN. This position will revolve around new product development and will specialize in mechanism design. This candidate will be interfacing with the technicians that work in the lab, looking into the details of prototype issues and proposing solutions. The issues that will be evaluated will revolve around the machine mechanisms. They will be pulling 3D models that represent components, perform studies on those components, perform hand calculations, prepare drawings and send those drawings to production. The time will be split between evaluating problems and proposing solutions and implementing new designs.
* 5-10+ years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer
* Hands on mechanism design experience
* Leadership experience with technicians to identify problems, evaluate products and propose solutions
* Full lifecycle engineering experience including investigating product problems, understanding causal mechanisms, recommending appropriate actions, owning problem resolution, and documenting results
* Experience performing hand calculations for basic dimensioning of shafts, springs, cables, etc.
* Design & redesign using CREO or similar CAD software
