Job Description

An employer is looking for a highly skilled Data Engineer to join one of our largest national healthcare clients for a remote opportunity. In this role you will join a team of 12, split between their Sql focused data engineering team, and their implementation team. This group is working to create a brand-new application with a delivery date of July. This application is focused on 837 EDI Medicare claim submissions. Any previous experience working within healthcare claims will help you be successful on this team. This role has a potential to convert to a permanent employee based on performance.



Tasks include:

- Serve as a Data engineer / SQL developer implementing, optimizing complex stored procedures

- Write fast and performant database queries using various SQL tools

- Contribute and lead troubleshooting problematic or slow SQL code

- Will be responsible for creating Tables, Stored Procedure, Views, Indexes, Cursors, Triggers, User profiles, User defined functions, Relational database models & data integrity in observing business rules

Required Skills & Experience

- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject, or equivalent experience

- 5+ years relational DB Experience, including TSQL, complex queries, stored procedures, Index creation, and performance tuning

- Proficiency in executing multi-step data management and analysis tasks including creating data dictionaries and specification documents from research protocols

- Solid database skills with One or more DB technologies (SQL Server, Postgres, MongoDB, Casandra, Graph DB etc.)

- Experience working with data conditioning and preparation of test data for testing of various scenarios

- Knowledge and understanding on Normalization & RDBMS

- Experience extracting, transforming and loading (ETL) data from various formats (flat files, excel files, csv files, Json documents, etc.) using one or more ETL Tools (SSIS/Talend/Python)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.

- Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: Rundeck, Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow, etc.

- Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc.

- Experience with stream-processing systems: Storm, Spark-Streaming, etc.

- Related experience with Flask, and/or Django

- Health care industry experience with administrative claims data, EHR/EMR data, or complex relational health care databases

- Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment

- Ability to manage competing priorities

- Solid organizational skills and attention to detail

- Solid problem solving, interviewing and fact-finding skills
