This Transportation Project Manager role leads MDOT and local agency transportation projects across Michigan from planning through design delivery. You’ll serve as the primary client contact, managing relationships while overseeing project scope, budget, schedule, and quality. The position involves directing multi-discipline teams, coordinating across offices, and ensuring all deliverables meet MDOT standards and internal quality procedures. You’ll monitor project performance, proactively manage risks, and review technical work to ensure accuracy and completeness. In addition, you’ll support business development efforts, including proposals, client meetings, and helping win new work. This is a great opportunity for an experienced PE who enjoys leading teams, owning projects end-to-end, and building strong client partnerships.
Day to Day:
• Serve as the main point of contact for clients, leading meetings and managing communication throughout the project lifecycle
• Manage multiple MDOT and local agency projects from kickoff through design, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget stay on track
• Coordinate and lead multi-discipline teams (roadway, traffic, drainage, etc.) to deliver high-quality project work
• Monitor project performance, including budgets, staffing, schedules, and forecasts, and proactively address risks or issues
• Review and approve plans, reports, and technical deliverables to ensure they meet quality standards and client expectations
Support proposals, client development efforts, and work closely with accounting on billing, invoicing, and project financials

Required Skills & Experience
Must Haves:
Bachelors in Civil Engineering
10-15 years of experience in roadway / transportation experience
PE License
Proficiency in MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD or Civil3D
Experience with MDOT
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Plusses:
PE (professional engineer license)
Project Management experience
