Job Description

We are seeking a Family Stability Partner to serve as the first point of contact for families and community members at an emergency shelter. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Emergency Shelter, this individual plays a critical role in creating a safe, welcoming, and people-centered environment. The ideal candidate brings a trauma-informed mindset, strong customer service skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
This role supports front desk operations, client intake, administrative tasks, and day-to-day shelter operations while collaborating closely with shelter leadership and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities

Serve as the first point of contact for families and community members entering the shelter
Assist clients with intake paperwork and connect them to appropriate staff or immediate resources
Perform shelter check-in and check-out procedures, including intake completion and documentation
Support daily shelter operations such as meal service, room preparation, donation intake/distribution, and maintaining cleanliness and organization
Manage phone lines and respond to inquiries with accurate information regarding programs, services, and resources
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in compliance with organizational and legal standards
Complete administrative duties including data entry, filing, and maintaining accurate client records
Assist with crisis intervention by calmly de-escalating situations and engaging appropriate team members
Partner with staff to ensure smooth daily office and program operations
Accurately log daily activities and incidents and communicate updates to supervisory staff
Participate in departmental and organization-wide trainings as required

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required
1–2 years of experience in reception, customer service, or administrative support
Experience working, interning, or volunteering in nonprofit, social services, or trauma-informed environments preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion
Ability to remain professional in high-pressure or crisis situations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry systems (Monday.com experience is a plus)
