Job Description
The Simulation Engineer supports the ASG Process Engineering team by delivering robotic and system simulation services to validate throughput, cycle time, safety, and system performance for customer automation projects.
Simulation & Capacity Analysis
• Create and maintain robotic and system simulations
• Validate throughput, cycle time, and yearly capacity
• Perform throughput and discrete‑event simulations
• Capture and apply reliability and availability data
• Identify bottlenecks and recommend capacity optimization solutions
Workcell & Safety Support
• Support setup of workcell safety schemes with cross‑functional teams
• Apply robotic safety standards and risk assessment principles
Documentation & Engineering Reviews
• Generate and maintain simulation documentation and deliverables
• Attend proposal reviews, project meetings, and design reviews
Integration Support
• Support integration and hardware build activities
• Collaborate with controls, software, and engineering teams

• Siemens Process Simulate
• Rockwell Emulate3D
• Siemens Plant Simulation
• Discrete‑event simulation tools (AutoMod, Arena)

• Cross‑functional collaboration with engineering and customer teams
• Reports into Engineering management

Compensation:
$45/hr to $50/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent relevant experience)
• Experience providing robotic and system simulation services, including creating, maintaining, and documenting robotic simulations
• Proficiency in at least one industry‑standard simulation tool (FANUC ROBOGUIDE, Siemens Process Simulate, Rockwell Emulate3D, Siemens Plant Simulation, or equivalent)
• Experience performing throughput and capacity analysis, including validation of:
○ Throughput (JPH)
○ Cycle time
○ Yearly capacity
• Ability to capture and apply reliability and maintainability (R&M) data (MTTR, MTBF, availability, reject rate) within simulations
• Experience identifying system bottlenecks and recommending solutions to right‑size operations
• Exposure to and basic understanding of PLCs and controls hardware (HMIs, safety components, sensors), including experience supporting Virtual Commissioning by virtually connecting PLCs, HMIs, and robot controllers to validate:
○ Cycle time
○ PLC scan time
○ System sequencing
○ Error recovery
• Experience producing and maintaining simulation deliverables, including:
○ Cycle time data
○ Robot data sheets
○ DCS sheets
○ Payload sheets
○ Simulation videos
• Ability to support proposal reviews, design reviews, project meetings, and integration or hardware build activities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Ability to work in both office and manufacturing/plant environments
• Willingness to travel up to 30%, including occasional overnight and international travel, and to work overtime as required to meet customer deadlines
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills with a high attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously, and strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including presenting technical evaluations and recommendations to customers and peers
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Master’s degree in a related engineering field
• 6+ years of experience in process or systems engineering
• 6+ years of experience performing robotic simulation
