Job Description

The Quality Engineer will act as a liaison between the build floor, engineering teams, and suppliers to resolve quality and build issues in a fast‑paced automotive manufacturing environment. This role is hands‑on, highly collaborative, and focused on immediate containment, root cause analysis, and corrective action.

Day Shift Responsibilities
• Review end‑of‑shift reports to identify open quality issues
• Participate in or lead Easel Board meetings with engineers to game‑plan daily priorities
• Go to the production floor to talk with builders and review EZ board processes
• Diagnose quality and build issues — supplier vs. product vs. engineering change
• Drive immediate containment and corrective actions
• Perform root cause analysis on quality concerns
• Take physical measurements of parts as needed
• Conduct quality investigations and provide findings to suppliers and engineers
• Reach out to suppliers regarding bad parts, containment, and corrective actions
• Coordinate with warehouse teams when parts need to be prioritized or expedited
• Track and prioritize lot issues to support build sequencing
• Collaborate closely with peer engineers across trim line, chassis, doors, and IP areas
• Use Teamcenter for data and part access

Cross‑Functional / Problem Solving Work
• Act as liaison between the build floor and engineering when parts do not fit or function correctly
• Validate whether:
• The correct part was built
• The correct tool was used
• The part matches the BOM
• The part is within specification
• Resolve quality issues related to:
• Bad incoming parts from suppliers
• Build process issues
• Engineering changes

2nd Shift Responsibilities
• Support quality issue containment and problem solving during second shift production
• Review shift handoff items and ensure continuity of quality actions


Compensation:
$30/hr to $34/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

• Technical degree (Automotive, Mechanical Engineering)
• Hands‑on experience working with vehicles/ solid understanding of how systems work
• Strong understanding of the automotive build process
• Ability to perform root cause analysis and containment
• Experience working cross‑functionally with engineering and manufacturing teams

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Degree from Ferris State
- Prior quality experience
