Job Description
We are looking for a Field Service Engineer to join one of our automotive clients in Flint, MI. The engineer in this position will be serving as the technical owner for the next generation robotics within the organization to make sure the products are manufacturing ready, validated for proof of concept testing, and prepared for scalable development across the manufacturing plants. The person in this position will be responsible for identifying close readiness gaps, driving integration and validation activities, and enabling a smooth handoff from development to execution.
Additional responsibilities:
- Independently represent Product Development at manufacturing plants to plan and execute product proof of concept and pilot deployments.
- Lead product readiness assessments, identifying gaps in:
o Design maturity and robustness
o Manufacturability and serviceability
o Documentation and standard work
o Safety, compliance, and operating procedures
o Process readiness in the plant (material flow, layout, staffing, training)
- Support on site integration, validation, and early deployment activities in Flint, MI, including:
o System bring up and functional checkout
o Integration with plant material flow, safety systems, and IT/OT infrastructure
o Execution of PoC test plans and data collection
- Develop clear, structured handoff packages for Product Execution and Deployment teams, including:
o Readiness status and open issues
o Operating constraints and known limitations
o Standard work, operating procedures, and training content
o Lessons learned and recommendations for next deployments
Compensation: $44-47/hour
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
4+ years of experience directly supporting UAW manufacturing plant environments
Background in Robotics, Automation, or advanced manufacturing systems
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Hands on experience with autonomous mobile robots, industrial robots, or similar mechatronic systems
- Experience supporting new product introduction, pilot programs, or proof of concept deployments in Manufacturing
