Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Injection Mold Tool Room Supervisor to join PTI Engineered Plastics, a Processor of the Year 2024 and leading manufacturer serving the medical device, electronics, and consumer products industries. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing a 26,000 sq. ft., 25-person tool room supporting in-house injection mold tooling operations. The ideal candidate brings deep mold-building expertise and the ability to lead, mentor, and drive continuous improvement across the tool room.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise tool room operations from mold design through full production
- Manage a cross-functional team of mold makers, mold designers, and maintenance staff
- Act as the technical liaison between customers, process engineering, and program management
- Oversee build scheduling, staffing, and performance across all shifts
- Drive lean manufacturing initiatives, 5S, and preventive maintenance programs
- Troubleshoot and resolve mold issues related to injection molding processes
- Ensure compliance with ISO, FDA, and other regulatory standards
- Maintain production and quality documentation for audits and reporting

Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years of current experience supervising an injection mold tool room
- 10+ years of recent experience as a mold maker building prototype and multi-cavity production molds
- Hands-on experience with Class 101–104 thermoplastic injection molds
- Experience supporting presses in the 30–250 ton range
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Working knowledge of CAD with the ability to review mold designs and analyze part data from a DFM perspective

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience leading preventive maintenance programs
- CAM experience, including understanding cutter paths; advanced 3- or 5-axis programming is a plus
- Injection molding processing experience and advanced troubleshooting capability
- ERP system experience
- Strong Microsoft Office proficiency
- Long-term leadership mindset with interest in growing and developing the tool room
