Job Description

The Weld Engineer will support a large automotive OEM's Pre‑Production Operations Body Shop by maintaining weld quality, managing weld schedules, and ensuring proper robotic functionality across prototype builds. This role will work hands‑on with weld timers, RAFT schedules, and FANUC robots while collaborating closely with controls and robotics teams, with occasional support provided to the client's Defense operations.

Weld/Robot Engineering + Integration
• Troubleshoot weld timers — WTC welders
• Understand and adjust weld schedules using RAFT
• Build, assign, and manage weld schedules; load schedules into timers
• Load weld schedules into FANUC robots
• Perform jogging, minor touchups, and troubleshooting on FANUC robots

Process Ownership & Standards
• Learn and adhere to client's welding/robotic standards
• Ensure weld schedules are assigned correctly to stack‑ups
• Maintain and track weld parameters + part requirements via Excel
• Order necessary parts and maintain inventory updates

Cross‑Functional Work
• Work with controls + robotics teams
• Collaborate on debugging, schedule loading, and robot interactions

General Expectations
• Operate self‑sufficiently — self‑starter mindset
• Comfortable learning new, client‑specific, processes and technologies


Compensation:
$42/hr to $47/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

• Able to obtain security clearance if needed.
• Automotive / automation background as a Weld Engineer working with robots – 5+ years
• Knowledge of AWS standards + automotive standards
• Familiarity with robot systems – debugging, loading weld schedules, general robot interaction
• Experience with:
• HENROB rivetters
• Projection nut welding
• Drawn‑arc studs – EMHART systems
• Flow‑drill screws
• Aro weld guns (resistance spot welding – manual + robotic; troubleshooting required)
• Basic Excel use – tracking parts, change logs, schedule assignments

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• MIG weld experience – especially ferrous/iron
• Strong FANUC robot proficiency
• CWI certification
• Laser welding experience
