Job Description

An Aerospace company in Grand Rapids, MI is looking for a candidate to help lead the redesign and optimization of the analog/mixed-signal electronics for a MEMS based IMU built around micro resonating gyroscopes (MRG) and accelerometers. You will diagnose and eliminate electronics noise and drift in our prototype, stabilize performance across temperature, and meet unit performance targets —ARW, bandwidth, turn-on bias, and in-run bias—across the full operational range (temperature, vibration, shock). Working closely with the embedded/FPGA teams, you will drive root-cause analysis and a low-noise update of the entire signal chain (bias/drive, sense, AFE, references, ADC/DAC interfaces), lead bring-up and validation, and deliver stable, repeatable performance culminating in a production-ready electronics package.

Compensation:
$80.00/hr

Exact Compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of experience designing low noise analog/mixed signal electronics for precision sensors (ideally MEMS inertial/resonant), with full lab to field validation experience.
• Demonstrated ownership from concept through prototype and EVT/DVT/PVT to production, meeting rigorous performance targets (ARW, bias stability, thermal/vibe/shock, EMI/EMC).
• Expert in precision references, biasing, low noise/chopper/auto zero amplifiers, filtering, ADC/DAC and clocking interfaces, jitter, power integrity, and mixed signal layout/isolation.
• Hands on lab and analysis skills: lock in methods, noise/phase noise/Allan variance measurement, precision instrumentation, thermal testing; SPICE/behavioral modeling, Monte Carlo/noise sims; MATLAB/Python; PCB CAD.
• Cross functional collaborator (firmware/FPGA/test) with excellent documentation across test plans, validation reports, design artifacts, and production test strategies.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience with micro resonant gyros (MRG) or other resonant MEMS, including I/Q demodulation and closed loop drive/sense control.
• Ability to diagnose and mitigate mixed signal edge cases (DAC artifacts, feedthrough, jitter).
• EMI/EMC and environmental robustness experience, including validation to standards (DO 160, MIL STD 810, IEC 61000) and component derating/lifecycle planning.
