Job Description

A large automotive manufacturer is looking for a Plant Layout Engineer. This part-time position (avg of 3 days/wk) involves developing layouts that support overall plant production, material flow strategy, and pedestrian safety.

Responsibilities include creating plant and department layouts in alignment with the Component Bill of Process and OEM Production System concepts, as well as designing complete project and retool layouts. These layouts encompass support areas and equipment such as gauge tables, stock stands, bridge and jib cranes, fire, dust and mist equipment, and floor striping to ensure a comprehensive production system. The role also requires identifying and implementing CAD tools for layout development, collaborating with the existing Layout Engineer (not tied to this specific plant), and conducting layout review meetings to present status updates, identify issues, and track progress. Additionally, the position involves leading simultaneous engineering meetings with Tier 1 suppliers for plant-led programs to coordinate equipment installation during program reviews with all stakeholders.

The work schedule for this role can vary significantly, with some weeks requiring up to five days of work and others only one day, depending on project needs.
