Job Description
Insight Global is looking for an AutoCAD Layout Engineer to join a large automotive company. The AutoCAD Layout Engineer will be an important part of a cross-functional team having the primary responsibility to maintain accurate plant equipment layouts and to help create, evaluate, plan for, and implement various process equipment and facility improvements.
. This Layout Engineering candidate will be responsible for:
• Using Autodesk AutoCAD software in model and paper space modes. Primary use of AutoCAD Architecture and FactoryCAD
• Produce construction installation and station rearrangement layouts
• Produce section and elevation drawings depicting layout of new equipment
• Translate field sketches, record drawings, as-built drawings, photographs, verbal and written information into 2D AutoCAD drawings
• Advanced knowledge of civil, structural, architectural and electrical CAD detailing
• Conduct field checks of existing plant and update cycle line layout
• Prepare clear, complete and accurate working plans and detail drawings from rough and detailed sketches
• Run meetings and update material parts numbers per cycle line layout meetings
• Development of station rearrangement layouts
• Support Cycle Line layout meetings to review station layouts for the new program and support equipment and tooling installation, as needed
• Develop drawings for Bid packages or plant skilled trades
• Gathers required information from customers, suppliers, and internal teams to create internal layouts and is able to provide various “what if” scenario layouts
• Works closely with manufacturing, mechanical design, controls engineering, and project management to follow a project from its inception to the final acceptance and sign-off providing follow-up and support throughout the process
• Organizes and participates in system layout review meetings
• Documents information, decisions, and changes related to system layouts from customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Effectively interacts with internal and external process and design teams to create and maintain accurate plant layout drawings

Required Skills & Experience
• 3-5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience
• Well-versed in AutoCAD in a manufacturing environment
o Daily use of AutoCAD Architecture and FactoryCAD
o Understanding blocks and reference drawings
o Follows established drawing standards and specifications
• Excel: can read and interface Macros from an excel sheet into AutoCAD
• Microsoft Suite: Outlook, Word, Office,etc.
• Manufacturing experience
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Past OEM experience
• Automotive manufacturing experience
• Previous experience with integrated system layouts
