Position Overview:
Insight Globals largest Building Automation client is seeking a Project Mechanical Engineer to join their HVAC Installation team in the Detroit Metro area. The Mechanical HVAC Project Engineer is responsible for the design, coordination, and execution of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across commercial, industrial, or institutional projects. This role bridges engineering theory with practical application, ensuring systems are efficient, code-compliant, and tailored to client needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Engineering
Develop HVAC system designs using AutoCAD, Revit, or other design tools
Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and equipment selection
Ensure compliance with ASHRAE standards, local codes, and sustainability goals
Proficient in 3D BIM Drawings
Project Management
Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines
Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and submittals
Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
Construction Support
Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC systems
Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure quality control
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during construction
Client & Team Communication
Serve as the technical liaison between clients, contractors, and internal teams
Provide regular updates and documentation throughout the project lifecycle
Support proposal development and bid documentation
