Job Description

Day to Day:

As a Software Safety Engineer, you will conduct hazard analyses to identify potential safety risks in software systems and provide software-related input to the System Safety Management Plan (SSMP) and Safety Assessment Reports. You will analyze and recommend design features that meet safety criteria for complex safety-critical software-based systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards such as MIL-STD-882E, Joint Software System Safety Handbook (JSSSEH), and AOP-52. Collaboration with other engineers and stakeholders is essential to address safety concerns and implement safety measures effectively. Additionally, you will document findings and prepare reports on safety assessments and hazard analyses. Monthly travel to Sterling Heights, MI is required for on-site meetings and inspections to ensure safety compliance.

Required Skills & Experience

Must have:

4+ years of experience as a Software Safety Engineer or related role
Experince with the following safety standards
MIL-STD-882E
Joint Software System Safety Handbook (JSSSEH)
AOP-52
Ability to perform and support various hazard analyses and provide software-related input to the System Safety Management Plan (SSMP) and Safety Assessment Reports
Analyzing/recommending design features that meet safety criteria for complex safety critical software based systems
Experience decomposing safety critical systems for software related projects

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Nice to Have:

Experience in software development with MISRA C++ guidelines and proficiency in software safety code analysis and safety reviews.
