Job Description

Insight Global is looking for an Application Support Engineer for a client that specializes in world-class internal navigation systems located in Detroit, MI. This is a hybrid role that requires you to go onsite 2-3 days a week. You may travel 25-50% of the time (as needed) to customer sites and conferences. As the Application Support Engineer, you will work B2B along with the other engineers. You will be working with Automotive/Airborne surveying equipment (GNSS -- Global Navigation Satellite System -- satellite configuration, or constellation, that provides satellite signals to a GNSS receiver which can be used to calculate position, velocity, and time) and (INS -- Inertial Navigation System -- provides cm-level reliable positions together with attitude angles (heading, roll and pitch) showing the object's global 3D orientation and movement) -- this is basically ADAS -- Advanced Driver-Assistance System on steroids.



You will also be responsible for training/demonstrations with clients on new product/feature launches. You will be responsible for resolving customer issues, creating support documentation, develop application solutions, and identifying opportunities for improved products and services. The role also provides email and telephone support to world-wide customers (i.e. outside their region) dependent on demand and prioritization.



Responsibilities:

o Provide customer support by helping customers and representatives with the application products; answer questions and resolve issues. Process and analyze customer data sets to establish cause of anomalies; assist to re-process data to remove or reduce effects of anomalies.

o Follow the systems and processes for delivery of Technical Support

o Maintain support for existing regional channel partner network.

o Build and maintain a strong working relationship with each key account to understand their business

o Provide critical analysis for component integration within customer products

o On-site visits to problem solve and advance customer projects

o Provide technical information on products, their performance, and their application

o Provide technical support, answer enquiries, requests and resolve issues, get feedback on opportunities for improvement

o Follow the systems and processes to funnel customer feedback, issues, and requests for new

features, to the Product Management team for prioritization, development, and resolution

o Support the roll-out of new and updated products. Explain new features and how they will help to sell products

o Develop and deliver training courses to educate customers and representatives in proper use of the company's products

o Provide product demonstrations to prospective customers

o Support client at regional industry exhibitions

o Write FAQs, technical articles, support guides, and application notes for customers, and provide to customers and to Marketing for publication

o Develop application solutions through creating software templates, configuring products, and testing with 3rd party products

o Identify opportunities for new and improved products and services, based on feedback and requests from customers, and through developing solutions to customer application problems

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Aerospace, Etc.

Must be able to travel to customer sites when needed (not too often)

Experience with GNSS, INS, ADAS, or similar technology

Needs to be very strong in math

Needs to be confident in coming up with technical solutions

Someone who likes collaborating with other engineers

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience working with autonomous vehicles

Technical Automotive background

Fixed-Wing Aircraft, Rotary-Wing Aircraft, Drones, Surveying/Mapping experience
