Job Description
A large pharma company is seeking a Front-End Software Engineer to join a cutting-edge Research Computing team focused on accelerating drug discovery and scientific innovation. This team is building and enhancing an AI-enabled target evaluation platform that aggregates biological and research data, delivers predictive insights, and empowers scientists to make data-driven decisions throughout the drug development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience developing modern web applications using React and Java, a background in pharmaceutical or biotechnology environments, and a passion for creating intuitive user experiences for complex scientific applications.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop responsive, scalable front-end applications using React and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Partner with scientists, researchers, data engineers, and AI/ML teams to build user-facing applications that support drug discovery and target evaluation.
• Create data visualizations and dashboards that surface biological data, predictive models, and research insights.
• Work closely with back-end engineers to integrate APIs, databases, and AI-driven services into a seamless user experience.
• Support rapid feature development for a beta research platform while maintaining production-grade applications.
• Enhance existing applications by improving usability, performance, and scalability.
• Participate in Agile development practices and collaborate across globally distributed teams in the US and UK.
• Contribute to AI-enabled testing and quality assurance initiatives.

• Deliver high-quality UI features for GSK's target evaluation and research computing platform.
• Enable scientists to efficiently analyze biological data and AI-generated predictions.
• Support the evolution of a beta platform into a scalable production-ready solution.

Required Skills & Experience
• 3+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on front-end development.
• Hands-on experience building applications with:
o React
o JavaScript/TypeScript
o Java
o HTML5/CSS3
• Experience developing applications that consume and display large datasets.
• Experience integrating front-end applications with APIs, databases, and cloud platforms.
• Background working within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or research-focused organizations.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience developing scientific, healthcare, or research data applications.
• Familiarity with AI/ML-enabled applications, predictive analytics, or data science platforms.
• Experience building advanced dashboards and interactive visualizations.
• Knowledge of biological, genomic, clinical, or research data domains.
• Experience working in cloud environments such as:
o GCP
o AWS
o Azure
• Exposure to full-stack application development
