Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our team! This role is hybrid in Westborough, MA. The Principal Software Engineer provides technical leadership for software and product development efforts, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality solutions. This role defines development strategy, drives architecture and design decisions, and ensures compliance with internal processes, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

Responsibilities include leading concept development, prototyping, feasibility assessments, design definition, risk management, and verification activities throughout the product lifecycle. The Principal Software Engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, guides technical development efforts, and balances user needs, reliability, cost, and technical risk when making key design decisions.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in medical device software development, design controls, and leading multidisciplinary product development teams in regulated environments.


Compensation:
$40-70/hr

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or similar STEM degree
Experience*:
• Minimum years of related experience: 9+ years or 8+ years with MS or 5+ with PhD
• Expert-level proficiency in C++ and Python development.
• Provide technical leadership for software and product development initiatives.
• Design, develop, and optimize algorithms, including AI and statistical models, for medical device applications.
• Analyze product and field data to improve performance, reliability, and design robustness.
• Support verification, validation, usability studies, animal studies, and failure analysis activities.
• Lead software requirements, architecture, design, testing, and verification efforts to ensure quality and compliance.
• Manage software development activities, resources, schedules, and deliverables while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Drive technical risk assessment, mitigation, and contingency planning throughout the development lifecycle.
• Utilize modern development tools and practices, including Git, Azure DevOps (ADO), static/dynamic code analysis, and automated testing frameworks.
• Ensure data integrity, quality, and regulatory compliance for software testing, analytics, and algorithm training.
Communicate project status, risks, and progress effectively to technical and business stakeholders.
