Job Description
You will be a hands-on practitioner responsible for auditing, remediating, and validating existing documentation and video training to meet accessibility standards. You will use MacCap Flare and Capture, collaborating closely with a Documentation and Training manager and the broader UILS (User Information and Learning Solutions) team to systematically bring content into compliance.
What You’ll Do
Accessibility Remediation
Audit existing product documentation for WCAG 2.1 AA compliance gaps, including heading structure, table markup, link text, and UI element references
Remediate all WCAG 2.1 criteria as needed for online, video, and other formatted documentation in close collaboration with documentation managers
Document progress and flag issues requiring SME input or escalation
Collaboration & Quality
Partner with the Documentation and Training manager for your assigned product line to prioritize high-impact content for remediation
Participate in release-based remediation workflows with regular check-ins and quality reviews
Coordinate with the Lead Accessibility Specialist in the UX organization for higher-level direction as needed.
Work through the Documentation + Training Manager to establish UI/UX engineer, QA, and product team collaboration channels.
Compliance Support
Support VPAT documentation efforts by ensuring documentation compliance is audit-ready and defensible
Apply accessibility best practices to any new content authored during the engagement period
Contribute findings and recommendations to the team’s accessibility knowledge base

Required Skills & Experience
3+ years of experience in technical writing, content accessibility, or documentation remediation
Working knowledge of WCAG 2.0/2.1 (AA) guidelines and Section 508 compliance requirements
Working knowledge of semantic HTML, ARIA, CSS, and style sheets
Familiarity with structured authoring and topic-based writing methodologies
Experience using Git-based platforms to manage documentation source files
Hands-on experience using or testing with assistive technology and accessibility evaluation tools
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work through high volumes of content systematically
Excellent written communication and collaboration skills and the ability to effectively communication with subject matter experts at all levels of the organization.
Ability to flexibly work with the schedules of off-shore and on-shore partners
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
3-5 years of professional experience in UX writing, content strategy, or technical writing, with a strong, demonstrable portfolio highlighting accessible design and/or remediation
Experience with MadCap Flare or similar structured authoring tools
Experience in healthcare software, health IT or other highly regulated industries
Familiarity with VPAT documentation and accessibility audit processes
Relevant certifications such as CPACC, WAS, DHS Trusted Tester or CPWA (IAAP)
Experience remediating large documentation sets (1,000+ topics or images) at scale
