Job Description

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader across the software product portfolio, leading architecture efforts and contributing throughout the full software development lifecycle—from early concept through commercial release. You will leverage deep expertise in software engineering, C++, and algorithm development to deliver secure, high-performance solutions in a regulated medical device environment. This role also includes mentoring engineers, shaping development processes, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance.
This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring onsite presence at least three days per week.

Compensation: $150k to $200k per year annual salary. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
• Minimum of 8 years of professional software development experience, with strong expertise in C++
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working on medical devices or similarly regulated, safety-critical systems (e.g., aerospace or automotive)
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle, including:
○ Architecture
○ Requirements definition
○ Design and implementation
○ Testing and documentation
○ Post-market support
• Hands-on experience with development and delivery tools such as Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Cockpit, and JIRA
• Experience developing software for Class II and/or Class III medical devices
• Strong focus on quality, compliance, and adherence to medical device regulatory standards
• Familiarity with medical device industry standards, including IEC 62304 and IEC 60601

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience developing software for networked or cloud-connected medical devices
• Experience with digital signal processing, real-time video streaming, or AI/ML algorithm development
• Experience partnering with project management to define work breakdown structures and deliver functional milestones
• Experience collaborating with marketing and product teams to translate clinical and business needs into software roadmaps
• Strong knowledge of Linux-based operating systems, including concurrency, memory management, and resource utilization
• Understanding of healthcare data standards such as DICOM, HL7, and IHE
