Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Engineering Manager to join a fast-paced manufacturing team in Norwood, MA. This individual will be responsible for leading a team of six direct reports across manufacturing engineering, tool room, facilities, and maintenance. The ideal candidate will spend 50–80% of their time on the production floor and play a key role in driving strategic initiatives, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

-Lead and mentor a cross-functional technical team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
-Provide engineering support across manufacturing, facilities, equipment, and automation systems to ensure high-quality output and customer satisfaction.
-Own equipment reliability and maintenance strategies, including CMMS oversight, PM development, and spare parts planning.
-Collaborate with operations, quality, and engineering teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, implement automation, and expand SCADA systems for process monitoring.
-Drive continuous improvement projects focused on throughput, reliability, and cost reduction.
-Develop and implement predictive maintenance programs and robust control strategies for manufacturing processes.
-Support capital planning, budgeting, and ROI analysis for equipment investments.
-Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and quality standards.
-Participate in process development for new coatings and technologies.
-Provide technical training and mentorship to operators, technicians, and engineers.
-Lead or support corrective and preventative actions and contribute to strategic goal setting for the engineering function.
Must-Haves:

Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong technical background in equipment reliability, automation, and process improvement.
Ability to work hands-on in production areas and collaborate cross-functionally.
Experience with CMMS systems, SCADA, and predictive maintenance programs.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Nice-to-Haves:

Experience with capital project management and ROI analysis.
Background in fixture design and quick changeover solutions.
Familiarity with process development for coatings or similar technologies.
Additional Info:

Travel is minimal and limited to project-related activities.
This is a full-time, onsite role located on the company’s campus in Norwood, MA.

Compensation:
$140,000/yr to $180,000/yr per year annual salary. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

-Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Advanced degree preferred)
-10–15 years of manufacturing experience, including 3+ years in medical device or other regulated industries (aerospace/defense), and 7+ years in technical leadership or people management
-Strong understanding of GMPs, ISO 13485, and equipment qualification protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ)
-Hands-on experience with complex electro-mechanical systems; automation and PLC programming a plus
-Proven success in scaling new systems, processes, and manufacturing cells
-Ability to lead through ambiguity and drive clarity in complex situations
-Strong risk management, strategic planning, and analytical skills
-Experience balancing internal capabilities with external SME support
-Working knowledge of OSHA and EHS compliance
-Customer-focused mindset with a strong quality and risk-based decision-making approach
-Effective multitasking and prioritization in fast-paced environments
-Practical experience with Lean and Six Sigma (certifications a plus)
-Excellent communication and presentation skills across all organizational levels
-Self-starter with high emotional intelligence, leadership presence, and change management skills
-Skilled in technical writing, training development, and dashboard/report creation
-Financial acumen with capital project management and ROI analysis experience
