Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a talented Data Engineer for their client in Downtown Boston. This is a direct-hire role and will be hybrid two to three days a week. This global company is an industry leader in Risk Modeling with a mission to achieve both profitable outcomes and positive societal impact. The company partners with insurance, reinsurance, financial, and government clients to help in catastrophe modeling software and services around the world. This role will contribute to a critical company initiative of re-architecting their flagship SaaS solution to become cloud compatible for AWS.



You be joining a Boston based Scrum team of 5-8 people but will work cross functionally with a larger group that will include Developers as well as Product Management for feature requirements and project schedules. You will be responsible for designing and building solutions and components using Python, PostgreSQL , AWS technologies (Redshift, Aurora, Glue etc.) and other technologies for enterprise scale multi-user applications. The ideal candidate will come from a Big Data environment and have excellent programming skills in Python (PySpark with the ability to develop, maintain, and debug Python-based applications.

Required Skills & Experience

- 3-6+ years' experience in the development of SaaS or externally sold software products within a Big Data Environment

- Proven work experience of with PostgreSQL, proving expertise in database design, administration, and performance optimization. ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database-related issues

- Hands-on experience with strong understanding of AWS services and infrastructure, deploying and managing applications on AWS

Recent experience in Python(PySpark) in developing and supporting Python-based applications

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience with AWS Redshift

- Experience with AWS Glue
