Job Description

A mid size pharmaceutical client is seeking a REMOTE Data Visualization Engineer in Research Technology to advance biomedical research. They will be capable of engineering innovative digital experiences that enable users to work directly with data supporting scientific research and data-driven decision making. This is a one-of-a-kind role, so we're looking for someone who can think creatively about solving data and interactive challenges in new and engaging ways.



This position is for an engineer who can be as effective writing code as they are working with a cross-functioning team. The ideal candidate for this role will be passionate about innovative front-end solutions. They will possess a combination of programming skills and aesthetic sensibility. A key deliverable is a web-based data portal for interactive analysis and download of data.



The candidate will join a team of scientific researchers, software/data engineers, data scientists, and visualization experts. While the team is based in Boston, the candidate can be fully remote. Key Duties & Responsibilities

* Work with Research Technology's collaborators to build beautiful, informative, and interactive data visualizations.

* Play a key role in turning data presentation ideas into executable solutions considering the research needs, design opportunities and limitations, and technical options.

* Collaborate with IT's internal team of engineers and designers to create feasible solutions according to collaborator's visions and constraints.

* Translate user requirements into interactive interfaces for applications/products.

Required Skills & Experience

* Experience working with scientific data or have a scientific background (biology or chemistry)

* Must have 3+ years as an experienced data visualization engineer.

* Experience with JS frameworks such as React, Angular, and/or Vue.

* Familiarity with AWS services (Fargate, Lambda, S3, etc).

* Experience with Agile workflow practices and familiarity with Atlassian tools including Jira, and Confluence.

* Knowledge or experience with D3, CANVAS, Plot.ly, or other visualization libraries and tools.

* Fluent in Javascript or Typescript and ability to rapidly prototype in languages like R, Python, or Tableau/Spotfire.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

* Experience in creating the most suitable data models for the front-end driven by the design approaches.

* Strive for software development best practices: write elegant, adaptable, and reusable code; accurately estimating story points; strict code review; maintaining source control.

* Familiarity with complex biomedical research data
