A large investment management firm is looking for a Database Developer to join their Custom Solutions team. The client has over 51 offices which service over 22 countries and currently $1.4Tn total AUM. They are provide managed equity strategies, active fixed income and liquidity, alternative investments, and custom solutions. They are also committed to sustainable investing and making strides for their customers to meet their ESG goals. This role will sit onsite in downtown Boston a few days a week. The client is integrating with another company so in the beginning it will be a mix of production support and then later it will be new development. The team is responsible for database development and integration with various data sources for the Sales team. The data is related to transactions, sales information, etc and is coming in all types of formats so the ideal candidate will be able to manage various data structures. The team is around 4 resources. The Senior Developer will work with all members of their team to implement and support projects and systems for all Global Distribution projects. The primary focus of this position is the ownership and support of various software systems utilized throughout the enterprise. The role is 40% SQL development, 40% ETL (Ab Initio) work to clean, transform and load data, and 20% other duties within AWS/Azure as well as production support, coding, scripting, etc. The candidate must have excellent communication and ability to speak regarding requirements and figure out the best solution to move forward. They will provide level 3 production support after it has run through the BA team at level one and the development teams. The candidate must understand how to manage an application workflow end to end. The team does a lot of custom development so the database needs new design scripting and administration, then they build ETL on top of it. The team uses Java for example to automate their archival provess in outlook messages/Teams due to a regulatory need so they reverse engineered this process, as well as custom building the synchronization between Outlook and their CRM.
- 10-15+ years experience in SQL database development
- expertise in T-SQL or PL/SQL application development
- 4+ years experience with an ETL tool (Ab Initio preferred, or Informatica)
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL best practices (data structures, etc)
- Scripting experience with Windows batch and Unix shell scripts
- Strong knowledge of data objects like JSON and XML.
- Cloud experience (AWS or Azure)
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Administration or Computer Science is required.
