Job Description

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Insight Global is seeking a Digitization Scientist to support the Pathology and Tissue Operations team at a leading pharmaceutical company. This individual will play a critical role in handling clinical and pre-clinical tissue samples, conducting image analysis, and supporting drug discovery and clinical trial initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have laboratory experience in histology, digital imaging, or translational sciences. This scientist will perform slide digitization, image analysis, assay interpretation, and documentation while working closely with pathologists and cross-functional team members to ensure high-quality assay performance in support of experimental research and clinical (GCP) projects.

Responsibilities Include, but Are Not Limited To:
• Perform slide digitization, image quality reviews, image analysis, and automated quantification of tissue samples
• Execute routine and advanced automated immunohistochemistry (IHC) procedures
• Manage clinical trial, pre-clinical, and research tissue samples in compliance with Human Biological Specimen (HBS) guidelines
• Analyze, interpret, document, and communicate scientific findings to internal stakeholders; present results when needed
• Ensure compliance with GLP, GCLP, safety, environmental, and AstraZeneca quality standards
• Prepare and maintain laboratory documentation, protocols, technical summaries, and electronic laboratory notebooks
• Support sample shipment activities and maintain accurate tracking records
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support drug discovery, translational research, and clinical development initiatives
• Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and contribute to problem-solving efforts across projects
Perform additional laboratory and operational duties as assigned

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Pathology, Histology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific field
• 1–3 years of hands-on experience in a laboratory setting
• Exposure to histology workflows
• Familiarity with tissue staining techniques
• Experience using automated IHC staining platforms preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Microsoft Project

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Master's degree in a related scientific field
• Experience with slide digitization and digital pathology workflows
Prior experience at organizations such as Johns Hopkins, NIH, or similar research institutions
