Job Description
The Technical Writer’s daily responsibilities center on gathering and analyzing process information from engineers, operators, and SMEs to build accurate, actionable SOPs. They conduct structured interviews and listening sessions to understand workflows and the reasoning behind each step. The writer transforms these insights into clear, concise procedures that meet R&S standards, industry norms, and government formatting requirements. They produce supporting visuals—flowcharts, diagrams, and screen captures—to clarify complex processes and improve user comprehension. The role includes maintaining and updating document templates, ensuring consistency across all SOPs and proposal materials. They perform detailed editing for grammar, style, readability, and technical accuracy while managing version control, approvals, and archival activities. Collaboration with SMEs is ongoing, including coaching them on persuasive, clear writing and improving the quality of their contributions. The writer also prepares documents for digital and printed distribution, handles sensitive information securely, and may review FAA CDRLs for completeness and contractual alignment.
Estimated Pay Range: $35-52/hr

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelors Degree
- 5-10 years technical writing and editing experience
- Ability to produce SOPs using active voice and imperative mood
- Government contracts and proposal formats experience
- Advanced MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and InDesign
- Strong visual documentation skills (Visio, flowcharting, screen-capture tools)
- Smartsheets experience
