Job Description

We're hiring Medical Assistants to support participant visits for the CROWN Brain Health Study, a multi-site longitudinal research study focused on understanding Alzheimer's disease and related conditions. CROWN is a collaboration between Capital Neurology and Sleep Medicine and Crownlands, focused on collecting samples and clinical data to help improve early detection of brain diseases.
As an MA on this study, you'll work directly with participants throughout their visits: guiding them through the process, performing blood draws and sample handling, administering cognitive and behavioral assessments, and ensuring smooth visit logistics. You'll also be a key part of a small, focused team contributing to research that may improve how we diagnose and treat Alzheimer's in the future.
Most of our participants are older adults, and many are living with memory or cognitive conditions. Patience, warmth, and clear communication are essential. We're looking for someone careful, conscientious, and genuinely interested in being part of meaningful clinical research.

What you'll do
● Greet and orient participants at the start of each visit, ensuring they feel comfortable and informed
● Collect vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse) and conduct medication reviews
● Perform venipuncture for research blood samples and prepare samples for shipment
● Administer the UPSIT smell identification test and behavioral questionnaires (GDS-15, NPI-Q)
● Support administration of cognitive assessments (MMSE, FCSRT, Category Fluency): training and certification provided
● Administer the CDR-SB structured interview after appropriate training and certification
● Process and label samples according to study protocols and shipping requirements
● Enter participant data into our electronic data capture system (REDCap)
● Coordinate visit logistics, including caregivers and informants for participants who require them
● Conduct phone-based follow-up interviews with participants' caregivers when needed
● Maintain study documentation in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and HIPAA
● Communicate with participants and their families warmly and clearly throughout the study
