Job Description
Insight Global is looking to bring on a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) , to lead design efforts across a handful of Federally funded project supporting the designer of record (DOR) client of ours. The ideal candidate will take a lead role in the design, development, and modeling of electrical systems for diverse projects funded by the Government,
You will utilize Revit and AutoCAD to create high-quality construction documents, manage project timelines, and mentor junior staff, ensuring compliance with all NEC and safety standards from concept through construction administration.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Modeling: Develop, modify, and review complex 3D Revit models and 2D AutoCAD drawings for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and communication systems.
Engineering Calculations: Perform electrical calculations, including load analysis, short-circuit calculations, voltage drop, arc flash hazard analysis, and breaker sizing.
PE Responsibilities: Seal/stamp electrical engineering construction documents, plans, and specifications.
Coordination: Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and mechanical engineers to integrate electrical systems, using Revit to check for interferences.
Code Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA, IBC, and local energy codes.
Project Management Support: Assist in preparing project proposals, budgets, and schedules. Conduct site visits to monitor installation progress and perform punch lists.
Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and review the work of junior engineers and designers.
Required Qualifications
Preferred Skills
Experience in federal, healthcare, or mission-critical (data center) projects.
Familiarity with LEED/sustainable design practices.

Required Skills & Experience
Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Experience: Minimum 10 experience in electrical systems design within an MEP consulting environment; 5 years of experience within DA, VA, USACE or some Federal Medical environment
Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP (3D modeling) and AutoCAD (2D drafting).
Technical Skills: Working knowledge of lighting calculation software (AGi32 or ElumTools) and power system analysis tools (SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower).
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
