Job Description
Overview:
The Building Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the optimal operation, safety, and reliability of all building systems. This role involves a mix of reactive and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to maintain a high standard of facility performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform reactive and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, air handler units, and building control systems (approx. 70% reactive / 30% preventative).
- Provide diagnostic and troubleshooting support for plumbing and electrical systems to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of building infrastructure to identify structural issues, system malfunctions, and potential hazards.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and system performance for compliance and audit purposes.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, system failures, or breakdowns, implementing swift and effective solutions.
- Prepare cost estimates for repairs, upgrades, and capital improvements, ensuring budget alignment and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and construction teams on new building projects and - system integrations.
- Perform routine and complex repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to maintain operational integrity.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Utilize building automation systems (BAS) to monitor and optimize energy usage and system performance.

Required Skills & Experience
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3+ YOE
- Proven experience in building operations, maintenance, or engineering within commercial or industrial facilities.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in building management systems (BMS/BAS).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure during emergencies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Certifications such as EPA Universal, CFC, NAPE, or relevant trade licenses preferred.
- Knowledgeable on Siemens
