Role Overview
Insight Global is seeking a mid-level Marine Mechanical Engineer to support the U.S. Coast Guard’s Ship Design Team in Baltimore. This role focuses on the design, analysis, and integration of marine auxiliary systems and machinery. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with shipboard systems such as piping, hydraulics, HVAC, pumps, valves, and cargo/weight handling equipment.
You’ll contribute to technical documentation, system specifications, and trade studies, while ensuring compliance with federal and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and evaluate marine auxiliary systems and machinery.
• Develop system documentation and ship specifications.
• Conduct engineering analyses and trade studies.
• Lead the creation and review of technical data packages.
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations (ABS, USN, etc.).

Required Skills & Experience
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering (or related technical field) from an ABET-accredited institution.
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in marine mechanical engineering.
• At least 3 years of experience specifically in auxiliary systems design, optimization, and integration.
• Familiarity with shipbuilding standards and regulations (ABS, USN, industry).
• Proficiency in standard productivity software.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with U.S. federal or commercial shipbuilding programs.
Background in DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I acquisition programs.
