Job Description

A client of Insight Global is seeking a Staff Attorney to join their team in Baltimore MD. The Staff Attorney will play a crucial role in providing legal assistance and representation to immigrants, helping them navigate the complex processes involved in immigration law.


In this role, the Staff Attorney will provide legal consultation and advice to clients regarding their immigration status and available options. This includes managing a caseload of clients, handling intake, documentation surrounding SIJ (Special Immigrant Juveniles), individuals seeking Asylum, and obtaining naturalization status. The attorney will represent clients in immigration court and at USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) interviews and hearings, ensuring their rights and interests are effectively advocated for.

A significant part of the job involves assisting clients with the preparation and submission of immigration applications, petitions, and other legal documents. The Staff Attorney will also engage in various advocacy efforts, representing clients in both legal and administrative settings to secure favorable outcomes.

Education and outreach are key components of the position. The Staff Attorney will conduct workshops, information sessions, and community outreach activities to educate clients about their rights and the legal remedies available to them. Collaboration with other service providers, such as social workers, healthcare professionals, and educators, is essential to offer comprehensive support to clients.

Additionally, the Staff Attorney will participate in policy work, engaging in advocacy efforts related to immigration policy and reform, often in collaboration with other organizations and stakeholders. This role is critical in ensuring that immigrants receive the necessary legal support to achieve stability and security in the United States.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors Degree in Law, Criminal Justice or related field
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Accredited Law school . Within 2 years of hire, required to pass the certification exam for admission to the Bar of Maryland.
Licensed to Practice LAW in at least 1 U.S. State, Federal District Court or Territory
At least 1 year experience in Immigration Law
Requires consistent and reliable means of transportation to ensure representation at Baltimore and Hyattsville Immigration Courts and other locations within the Central Maryland region.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred
Licensed to practice Law in Maryland
Experience with Trauma Informed Practice
