Job Description
As a Windows Systems Administrator you'll be responsible for the support and implementation of physical and virtual servers running Microsoft Windows in multi-tiered environments, including both on-premises and cloud, for a federal agency. You will be the technical first point of contact internally and externally for break/fix, incident resolution, event, change and problem management as related to Windows systems. In addition, you will support the service request fulfillment processes, related to Windows systems.
* Performing tasks related to daily operations and maintenance of Windows systems in an enterprise environment.
* Support for virtualized systems (VMWare ESX/ESXi, AWS EC2, GCP Compute).
* Understanding/following procedural documentation for operational tasks pertaining to Windows operating systems.
* Installing and verifying operating system patches.
* Managing server resources, including modification of RAM, CPU, Disk when necessary.
* Monitoring performance, health, and availability of systems.
Managing assigned ServiceNow tickets as well as queue management.
Minimum Requirements
· 4-6 years of systems administration experience with Windows servers.
· Ability to install, operate, patch, maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot Windows servers.
· Experience with system monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
· Experience administering server systems in IIS.
· Perform in-depth technical root cause analysis for high-priority IIS issues.
· Knowledge of other web server technologies (Apache, Tomcat, etc.)
Familiarity with HTTP, DNS, Internet Protocol, and the OSI Model.
Desired Skills
· Amazon AWS or Google Cloud Platform administration strongly preferred.
· Experience with server vulnerability remediation.
· STIG. guidelines including working with SSL, DNS, and cyphers issues.
· Exposure to load balancers such as F5 BigIP.
· Exposure to server management systems like BigFix, WSUS, vCenter, etc.
· Exposure to server and application deployment automation systems like Jenkins and Docker.
· Knowledge and experience building, configuring, and monitoring web server system components; LDAP Authentication and compiling open-source applications.
· Programming or scripting background with one or more of the following: Java, C/C++, PHP, CloudFormation, Terraform and/or any scripting languages (BASH, Python, Ruby, Perl, etc.).
· Experience in administering SSL/TLS certificates for web servers (creating, applying, troubleshooting).
· Prior experience in using monitoring tools such as SolarWinds.
· Assist with application release process.
