Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) that will play a critical role in supporting the health, safety, and overall well-being of students within a special education day program. This position collaborates closely with educators, therapists, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure students receive the medical support necessary to succeed in a safe and inclusive learning environment. The RN serves as a key resource for student health needs, promotes wellness throughout the program, and helps facilitate effective communication between the school, families, and healthcare providers to support each student's unique needs.
1. Become familiar with all students to be able to provide medical support as needed.
2. Provide direct nursing services to students as needed (example: feeding).
3. Provide support and oversight of CRMAs and Unlicensed Assistive Personnel.
4. Monitor, audit and maintain MARS.
5. Ensure adequate supply of medications, check expiration dates of medications, and medical supplies as needed (including first aid boxes).
6. Obtain and monitor the status of Dr.’s orders as appropriate, communicate with parents/guardians/doctor’s offices as needed.
7. Monitor annual medical-related releases and forms and assure that they are current.
8. Maintain immunization records for students and staff.
9. Review GERs, Chapter 33 Reports, and Staff Injury reports if medically appropriate.
10. Develop policies/procedures in cooperation with supervisor, safety committee, etc. related to but not limited to infection control, chemical exposure, and medication management.
11. Develop and provide staff training related to health and safety by DOE and DHHS Regulations.
12. Consult in the admission process in order to ensure that Morrison can appropriately serve a potential student with complex medical needs.
13. Participate in individual education plan meetings, when requested and when there are significant medical issues, and health plans are needed.
14. Serve as an important communication link and liaison between the school and a students’ healthcare provider(s), family, sending school district and other care providers that support the students’ overall health.

Required Skills & Experience
1. Current State of Maine licensure as a Registered Nurse.
2. School Nurse Certificate Pre-K-12 (524) or ability to obtain.
3. Pediatric experience required.
4. Excellent ability to communicate with students, families, other providers, co-workers and program directors.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
