Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Commissioning Manager to join a top energy company in Houston, TX, supporting the engineering, procurement, and construction of multiple hyperscale, mission-critical data centers across the United States. This individual will lead all commissioning activities from project planning through final client handover, ensuring systems are safely tested, commissioned, and transitioned into operation in accordance with project requirements, client expectations, and schedule commitments.
The Commissioning Manager will develop and execute commissioning plans, testing procedures, turnover strategies, and system acceptance requirements while integrating commissioning activities into project schedules, construction execution plans, and startup milestones. They will coordinate closely with construction, technical, quality, procurement, vendors, subcontractors, and client operations teams to drive commissioning readiness, system turnover, integrated systems testing, and final acceptance. In addition to project execution responsibilities, this individual will help establish commissioning standards, processes, and best practices that support the long-term growth and scalability of the Data Center business.

Required Skills & Experience

15+ years of experience in commissioning, startup, operations readiness, construction, or project delivery within large-scale industrial, mission-critical, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, power generation, or data center environments
Proven experience leading commissioning activities from planning through final client handover on complex projects
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, controls, and integrated systems testing and commissioning processes
Experience integrating commissioning requirements into project schedules, construction execution plans, and turnover strategies
Demonstrated ability to coordinate across construction, engineering, subcontractors, vendors, and client operations teams
Experience managing commissioning personnel, specialist contractors, and vendor representatives
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Technical Discipline, or 15+ years of progressive commissioning and startup leadership experience
Experience commissioning data centers, mission-critical facilities, semiconductor facilities, pharmaceutical facilities, industrial plants, or power generation assets

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Data center or mission-critical facility commissioning experience
Professional certification in commissioning, project management, construction management, or operations readiness
Experience developing commissioning procedures, standards, and organizational processes
Experience leading integrated systems testing (IST), functional performance testing (FPT), and startup activities
Experience supporting large-scale EPC, industrial, or mission-critical construction projects
Familiarity with turnover management systems, commissioning documentation platforms, and digital project delivery tools
