Insight Global is looking to hire a laboratory technician for a client of ours in the New Orleans, LO area. Below are general responsibilities. Departments this individual will vary based on skill set coming in - Volatiles, Inorganics, Oil Chemistry.
Complete laboratory testing on all incoming samples in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner; ensure sample turnaround time goals are met or exceeded.
Sample preparation, processing detection sponges, plate reading.
Responsible for preparatory processing of incoming samples, in compliance with all applicable standard operating procedures and quality systems.
Care and maintenance of equipment associated with this testing.
Specific Assignments
Prepare test samples in accordance with standard operating procedure and applicable quality control procedures.
Clean workplace and equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures and general housekeeping requirements.
Provide feedback to the department manager for suggested improvement of analytical methods.
Monitor and meet TAT requirements for sample workflow, and keep the department manager informed when capacity constraints are anticipated that may delay TAT.
Record supplies taken from stockroom in logbook, and note any supplies that may need ordering and/or rush delivery.
Maintain assigned equipment according to standard operating procedures. Perform any and all operational qualifications prior to analysis according to standard operating procedures.

Prior experience in a laboratory or processing environment is preferred but not required.
Basic knowledge of laboratory practices or willingness to be trained.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail, excellent work ethic, self sufficient mindset.
AS or BS Degree in Microbiology, Food Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
Experience in plating, plate reading, and sample preparation.
