Job Description

The Director of Engineering leads and oversees the Engineering Department, ensuring successful project delivery from concept through completion. This role is responsible for strategic resource planning, schedule and budget oversight, and project accountability. The Director partners closely with Project Management, Pre‑fabrication, and Production teams to drive aligned execution across the organization. Delivering sound engineering solutions, maintaining high quality standards, and meeting committed timelines.

- Provide oversight of engineering best practices for PTMW product design, ensuring designs are functional, practical, and sound.
- Plan and execute projects on realistic, disciplined timelines and within approved budgets.
- Lead, coordinate, and manage the work of engineers and designers across the department.
- Develop clear project plans and specifications to guide manufacturing and ensure alignment with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage design budgets by allocating resources effectively, tracking costs, and controlling expenses.
- Oversee project scope, schedules, and costs using appropriate data and performance tracking tools.
- Foster strong cross‑functional collaboration with all departments.
- Evaluate and recommend software, tools, or process improvements to enhance project outcomes and reduce backlog constraints.
- Produce concise weekly project reports on progress, status, schedules, proposals, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
- Establish quality control standards and accountability measures to reduce design errors and omissions.
- Lead and develop the engineering team through clear role definition, coaching and feedback, training opportunities, and defined career growth paths.

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelors degree in Engineering or related
- 10+ years of practical design / engineering experience
○ Structural / Mechanical design foundation
- 3+ years of engineering management experience
- Experience in a Manufacturing setting

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience designing metal enclosures or metal parts
- Experience with SolidEdge or SolidWorks
