Job Description

Insight Global is looking for an Engineer to join a client of ours in Overland Park, KS. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining software code while adhering to established coding standards and performing unit testing to validate functionality and performance. The role provides Tier 3 Help Desk support by conducting root-cause analysis on escalated issues, identifying and documenting complex or previously undocumented defects across systems, and recommending and implementing targeted solutions to resolve underlying problems. This position also focuses on continuous improvement by collaborating with IS Development leadership and team members to enhance issue identification and troubleshooting processes. Strong communication is required through regular participation in team meetings, one-on-one discussions, and code reviews, as well as close collaboration with peers and leadership. Additionally, the role involves creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation based on requirements and code, updating tickets, contributing to code reviews and the Development Knowledgebase, and producing documentation to support downstream Testing and Production Support teams. This is a contract to hire role.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience supporting legacy applications.
• Hands-on experience Oracle PL/SQL, including supporting large existing codebases.
• Strong SQL skills with the ability to independently write, review, and troubleshoot queries (Oracle preferred).
• Customer-facing communication skills, including explaining technical concepts to non-technical users.
• Strong prioritization skills and comfort working in fast-paced, high-demand environments.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Exposure to modern technologies such as Next.js, React, Node.js, or PostgreSQL.
• Background in legacy modernization, refactoring, or migration initiatives.
• Familiarity with Jira and Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
• Experience supporting integrations or customized off-the-shelf applications.
