Job Description
As an LIS Manager, your day begins by reviewing open tickets, prioritizing incidents, and meeting with team leads to ensure smooth operations. You’ll oversee IT Service Management processes, including incident, problem, and change management, while guiding the team through troubleshooting and system maintenance. Mid-morning often involves engaging with health system stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into actionable technical solutions. You act as the liaison between clinical leadership and IT teams, ensuring alignment on priorities and expectations. Throughout the day, you focus on process improvement initiatives, analyzing workflows and ITSM metrics to drive efficiency and compliance across LIS operations. Coaching team members and fostering collaboration is a key part of your leadership responsibilities. In the afternoon, you may work on optimization projects or provide oversight for new instrument integrations and LIS enhancements in partnership with Solutions Architects. Regularly, you validate system health checks and confirm that compliance documentation is accurate and up to date. While the role is fully remote, you will occasionally travel within the Kansas City metro area to meet stakeholders for project milestones or strategic planning sessions. Each day blends operational oversight, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement to ensure LIS services run seamlessly and support clinical excellence. Required Skills & Experience
• 2+ years of leadership experience in IT service operations/management or information systems management
• Strong understanding of laboratory environments, processes, workflows, and compliance
○ Experience with lab information systems or prior experience working in or directly with a lab environment
○ Ability to translate lab terms from stakeholders into technical solutions
• Ability to deliver continuous improvements in IT processes and system workflows
• Strong emotional intelligence and ability to build strong relationships with team members and stakeholders within the business
Must be able to pass a drug test that includes Marijuana
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience with lab systems such as AMS or Data Innovations
• Experience building reports or processes in ServiceNow
• Experience with Epic of Beaker systems
Experience leading or supporting instrument implementations
