Job Description

A manufacturing and automotive client in the Kansas City Metro Area is seeking to add an experienced Process Engineer to their growing team. The main function of the production supervisor is to supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operating workers. This role also includes responsibility for employees engaged in the quality inspection of production products. Work involves the coordination of a number of inspection functions involving the ability to make decisions within the limits of product quality standards and policies. Work performed under general supervision, while exercising a high level of independent judgment.



Job Responsibilities include:

* Recommend measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.

* Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.

* Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, and maintenance to detect production problems.

* Hire, train, evaluate, and discharge staff, and resolve personal grievances.

* Prepare and maintain production reports and personnel records.

* Responsible for monitoring and enforcing the quality standards of an assigned area. Communication of department and plant quality metrics.

* Escalation of issues to all levels of management following escalation guidelines.

* Implement and follow systems that prevent re-occurrence of known issues through problem solving process.

* Leverage resources to solve quality issues.

* Build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union and management.

* Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping.

* Motivate, train and develop employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods.

* Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training).

Required Skills & Experience

* 5+ years of experience in a high-volume production role

* Experience in a manufacturing/assembly plant

o Need to be familiar and comfortable with the quick-pace of a plant-setting

* 3-5 years of experience leading a team

o Must be comfortable in a management position

* Must be mechanically inclined -- knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance

* Strong troubleshooting experience and problem-solving skills

* Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Relevant secondary education

- Experience in the automotive industry

o Specifically with Ford or GM and Ford suppliers

- Experience in a Union environment
