An E-Learning company is looking for a Copy Editor to join their team. This person can sit fully remote for this on-going contract (4 months initially then a 3-6 month extension IF performing as needed for the group). They will work up to 40 hours a week on a typical 9:00-5:00 CST schedule ideally, but there is some room for flexibility on the daily schedule. This Copy Editor is joining the team to help with review modules and pre-press content review for engage products, online only tutorials, as well as products that have been built in pages and put into layouts for print books. This Copy Editor will be responsible for a variety of editing tasks including: first edit, second edit, initial/final review, and high quality edit and revision. They will be editing, implementing, and verifying fixes in the CMS - so must know the basics of how to open, transfer, fix, and save. They will also do QA reviews in HTML/web browser to test and ensure everything is reflecting properly and as it should. The ideal candidate will a very strong editor, be tech savvy, a self-starter, and someone who can identify problems and propose solutions. They will have to complete a proofreading test before interviewing.
- 2+ years of professional copy editing experience
- Experience editing in a CMS (content management system) or LMS (learning management system)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (will have to complete a proofreading test before interview)
- Strong attention to detail and proven ability to provide accurate work at a quick pace
- Experience doing quality assurance reviews of finished work -- in HTML/web browser or test environment
- Self-starter, someone who can identify problems and propose solutions
