Job Description
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Cybersecurity Technologist with deep expertise in Palo Alto technologies. This role focuses on managing and optimizing firewall environments in a high-availability setting.
This is a part-time contract opportunity with flexible hours. The role supports critical network security operations and ongoing firewall improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Configure and manage Palo Alto NGFW devices, including PA 440 models
Build, update, and enforce firewall rules and security policies
Manage Panorama for centralized firewall administration
Support and maintain GlobalProtect VPN environments
Implement and tune threat prevention, URL filtering, and NAT policies
Perform SSL encryption and decryption configuration
Troubleshoot network and firewall issues through ticket resolution
Conduct packet-level analysis using Wireshark and PAN OS tools
Maintain high availability configurations and ensure synchronization
Partner with business teams to ensure compliance documentation
Create network diagrams and technical documentation
Execute backlog of firewall optimization and cleanup tasks
Work Environment:
Part-time schedule, approximately 20 hours per week
Hours may vary based on business needs
Occasional weekend work and off-hours support required
Hybrid model with remote flexibility
Customer-facing responsibilities included
Engagement Details:
Contract length of 6 months

Deeply experienced with Palo Alto firewalls
Comfortable working in complex, always-on environments
Hands-on problem solver who can clean up and optimize systems
Able to manage multiple tasks across firewall operations and improvements
Strong communicator who can bridge technical and business conversations

Required Skills & Experience
7 or more years of hands-on experience with Palo Alto platforms
Strong experience with Panorama and GlobalProtect
Proven ability to manage firewalls in a 24/7 environment
Experience with NAT, security policies, URL filtering, and threat prevention
Expertise in SSL decryption and inspection
Advanced troubleshooting skills with packet analysis tools
Ability to resolve complex network issues independently
Strong communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Strong networking background across TCP IP and routing concepts
Experience working in high-availability firewall environments
Familiarity with compliance and security documentation requirements
Ability to work directly with customers and internal teams
