Job Description
A Tampa-based employer is seeking a skilled Azure SQL Database Administrator to support and maintain internal applications built on SQL. This role requires hands-on experience managing SQL databases hosted in an Azure Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) environment. The DBA will be responsible for optimizing SQL queries by identifying performance bottlenecks and collaborating closely with development teams to improve query efficiency. Additional responsibilities include tuning SQL queries to enhance system performance, performing both local and remote Azure service restores, and implementing encryption protocols using Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) for data protection in transit and at rest. Though remote, this person must sit in either Tampa, Florida or Dallas, Texas.

Required Skills & Experience
7+ years of experience in SQL database administration, including experience with Azure SQL PaaS
Experience with SQL development (writing/troubleshooting stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, and constraints)
Experience with SQL Execution plans (being able to analyze the execution plan and identify/resolve performance bottlenecks)
Experience working in an Azure PaaS environment
Experience with Azure backup and restore processes for both local and remote Azure SQL servers
Experience with Bring Your Own Ket operations and implementation
Working knowledge of EntraID authentication, Azure SQL Server network security, Azure networking principles, powershell scripting, and third party DBA tools like Toad, pgAdmin, DBeaver, dbForge, and Visual Studio.
