Job Description

Our client seeking an experienced Construction Purchasing Manager to support its Operations Team. This role will serve as a key link between project management teams, internal stakeholders, and construction vendors. The selected candidate will lead a small team of purchasing agents and estimators to develop project budgets that align with company timelines and cost objectives.

This position requires a strong background in residential construction, specifically in custom homebuilding. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing trade partners, negotiating labor and material costs, and ensuring efficient purchasing and delivery schedules.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct daily site visits to verify materials, check inventory, and ensure work aligns with construction documents.
Schedule and manage trades, facilitating daily stand-ups and lookaheads to ensure project timelines stay on track.
Oversee vendor contracts, negotiate labor rates, and establish unit pricing to optimize cost efficiency.
Submit and manage RFIs (Requests for Information), ensuring timely resolution of trade-related issues.
Act as the key point of contact for construction purchasing and administration, ensuring seamless coordination between teams.
Track and report cost metrics, monitor subcontractor pricing fluctuations, and mitigate potential risks.
Establish and maintain relationships with reliable vendors and suppliers, leveraging industry connections to streamline material procurement.
Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory purchasing requirements.
Provide regular cost reporting and budget reviews with accounting and construction teams.

Required Skills & Experience

5 - 10+ years of experience in a purchasing role within residential custom home construction (preferably with a production single-family homebuilder).
Bachelors degree in supply chain management, logistics, construction management, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of the homebuilding process, with established relationships with local trades.
Experience in sourcing, vendor negotiation, and contract management.
Proficiency in vendor management software and construction procurement systems.
Strong leadership, decision-making, and analytical skills.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

3+ years of experience with ProCore or similar construction management software.
Previous experience in construction estimating.
Spanish proficiency is a plus.
