Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a motivated Staff Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career engineer (0–3 years of experience) looking to build a strong foundation in geotechnical engineering. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in field investigations, laboratory testing, report preparation, client coordination, and construction observation while working alongside experienced engineers and drill crews.

This position involves a combination of field work, office responsibilities, and travel to project sites. Geotechnical engineering plays a critical role early in the project lifecycle, providing recommendations that support the design and construction of infrastructure, commercial developments, transportation projects, and other earthwork-related projects. Pay Range for entry level is $70,000 to $80,000. Pay Range for Senior level is $110,000 to $130,000+.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Travel to project sites to support geotechnical investigations and construction observation activities.
Work alongside drill crews to observe subsurface explorations and obtain soil and rock samples.
Perform or assist with laboratory testing of geotechnical samples.
Prepare and maintain boring logs and field documentation.
Assist with developing exploration plans and coordinating field activities.
Support proposal preparation, project scheduling, and traffic control planning.
Coordinate project logistics and schedules with clients and contractors.
Assist in geotechnical report writing and interpretation of field and laboratory data.
Observe earthwork, grading, and construction activities to verify compliance with project requirements.
Utilize Microsoft Office and internal engineering software to document findings and prepare deliverables.
Work toward increased project responsibility and professional development under the guidance of senior engineers.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil or Geotechnical focus preferred).
• 0–3+ years of relevant experience.
• Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification required.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history.
Strong communication skills and a desire to learn and grow as a geotechnical professional.
