Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Senior Service Technician to support an industrial sales and service distributor client in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This client specializes in advanced finishing, dispensing, and filtration systems that support manufacturing and production environments. Their team installs, services, and maintains critical equipment that keeps customer production lines running, including paint, coating, curing, and adhesive application systems.
This senior-level technician will operate with a high degree of independence, serving as a key technical resource for both shop-based bench work and field service support. Day to day, this person will diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild industrial equipment either in the Cedar Rapids facility or at customer sites. Responsibilities include disassembling and rebuilding components, performing preventative and corrective maintenance, supporting system installations, and working directly with customers such as manufacturing, process, and facilities engineers. The role requires a high level of independence, strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, and comfort working hands-on with tools and technical documentation. Travel is expected up to 30% for installations and urgent line-down situations, with overtime paid and flexibility offered to support work-life balance.

Required Skills & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (technical or trade emphasis preferred)
3+ years' experience as a Maintenance Technician, Service Technician, or similar hands-on technical role
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
3+ years diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and testing industrial equipment
Ability to read and follow technical manuals, safety procedures, and work instructions
Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and electrical diagnostic equipment
Willingness to travel (~30%) for customer installs, maintenance, and emergency support
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Technical school, trade school, or apprenticeship experience
Certification from primary Finishing, Dispensing & Filtration vendors (e.g., Graco, GEMA, Fanuc, Sames, CFT), or ability to obtain within the first 6 months
Exposure to industrial equipment or manufacturing environments
Automotive or mechanical hobby or career experience (cars, engines, equipment repair)
Experience with paint systems, coatings, adhesives, or fluid-handling equipment
