Job Description

Insight Global is looking to hire a Cable Technician Foreman in a 5-month Contract-to-Hire role for a client of ours in Ames, IA. The Lead Installation Technician will provide oversight of technicians on the job site. This will include task or to-do assignments from basecamp, leading, coaching and developing the newer or less experienced installation staff. This position has the opportunity to advance. You will need to have advanced set of tools, the tool list will be provided with this job description. You will be directed from day to day by the Project Foreman you are directly working with on projects over 500 hours. On smaller jobs you will be required to independently task manage and update basecamp daily while overseeing crews on projects. Your main job will be installation, repair and maintenance of Internet, TV, Security and Audio products ICS sells and services. You should have a full understanding of how ICS infrastructure, equipment/electronics, and any other related products are to be installed as well as the functions of said products. You should be able to follow directions and ask questions if you do not understand a task given to you. This will include pulling cable/fiber, cable management, labeling, fusion splicing of fiber, terminating coax properly, terminating cat5/6 properly. Testing of fiber, coax and cat5/6 properly and accurately documenting. The installation of ICS electronics accurately, this will include active and passive products. Checking off to-do's in basecamp with pictures or documentation of work completed. Rotating on-call with other team members. Travel may be required with this position as well.

Required Skills & Experience

* 3- 5 years of leading or managing teams of installers or crews of technicians

* Ability to use basecamp , slack, signup, wiki, proficiently and consistently. This is used primarily for our internet and security service work.

* Ability to pass the SBCA test as well as future test as they become available.

* Ability to do locates and understand the Fiber map.

* Ability to understand and follow Splice Docs.

* Cabling or Installation experience with a variety of the following:

o Fiber Optics, Cat 5, Cat 6, Ethernet cables such as RJ45 or RG6, Coaxial, and Copper

* Experience performing all or a combination of the following:

o splicing fiber, terminating/certifying cables, installing servers in racks, punching down on patch panels, putting on head-ends, installing internet/security systems, and structured cabling

* Someone able to terminate, certify, and pull the cables, as well as complete the entire wiring process for internet/security cabling projects

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

* Class B license with air brake endorsement for bucket truck.

* Cable Management Certifications

* Experience working inside IDF closets

* Exposure to both Retrofit and New Construction environments
