Job Description

An employer is seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to build and lead a scalable Quality and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) system that supports growth while ensuring zero‑defect product performance, safe operations, and compliance with customer and regulatory standards. This individual will be a hands‑on leader who partners closely with operations to embed quality and safety into daily execution—not as bureaucracy, but as a competitive advantage.
This role is ideal for a builder‑type QA leader with experience in high‑mix, low‑volume (HMLV) or job‑shop manufacturing who can balance rigor with real‑world production demands.
Own, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS), including ISO 9001 compliance, audit preparation, corrective actions, and management reviews.
Lead a comprehensive gap analysis of the existing QMS and implement documented, auditable improvements adopted by operations.
Drive measurable reductions in internal scrap, rework, and customer defects, with a focus on zero repeat failures.
Establish and manage a Supplier Quality Program, including supplier scorecards and incoming inspection processes.
Implement quality data visibility through dashboards (Power BI or ERP‑based) tracking KPIs such as defects, rework, returns, NCMs, CAPAs, audits, and first‑article approvals.
Embed root cause problem solving (A3, 8D, 5 Whys, SPC) across shop‑floor teams; train and coach operators and leaders on consistent RCA/ICA practices.
Lead customer quality issue resolution, including complaints, returns, and field issues, with clear communication and structured corrective action.
Own EHS programs and compliance, including OSHA, EPA, and state/local requirements.
Conduct regular safety audits, committee meetings, and daily/weekly safety huddles; ensure timely corrective action closure.
Integrate EHS reviews into all new process changes, equipment installations, and facility projects.
Build and maintain an EHS manual and compliance matrix, ensuring required programs are documented and trained.
Serve as a visible, trusted partner to production—solving problems collaboratively rather than policing outcomes.
