Insight Global is seeking a Safety Manager to join a GC Construction Client in Chicago, IL. This construction client is a large general contracting, construction management, and design build firm operating through the US in building, transportation and water sectors.
We are seeking a Safety Manager to support a large-scale aviation heavy civil construction project at O’Hare International Airport. This role will focus on ensuring compliance, enforcing safety protocols, and maintaining a strong safety culture across complex civil operations including excavation, underground utilities, and infrastructure work.
This is a long-term opportunity supporting ongoing work at O’Hare, where the team has an established presence for over 15 years. Immediate priority will be given to candidates with aviation or airport project experience. The Safety Professional will support two active construction projects at O’Hare Airport. The first involves soil transfer operations, including dirt excavation and sheet driving. The second project focuses on underground pipe installation, working closely with a subcontractor responsible for building the pipeline. Both projects are centered around heavy civil construction and require experience supporting work involving heavy equipment and field operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee and enforce site safety programs for heavy civil construction activities
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and client safety requirements
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety meetings
• Support safe execution of work including:
o Large-scale excavation and earthwork
o Underground water piping and utilities
o Civil infrastructure within active airport environments
• Identify hazards and implement corrective and preventative actions
• Maintain safety documentation, reporting, and incident investigations
• Collaborate with project leadership to drive a proactive safety culture

Required Skills & Experience
• 2–10+ years of safety experience in construction or heavy civil environments
• Experience in safety supporting heavy civil, infrastructure, or industrial projects
• OSHA 30 certification
• CHST certification or higher
• Hands-on safety experience working in high-risk environments (e.g., excavation, utilities, industrial sites)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Prior experience supporting aviation or airport construction projects
• CSP
