A large retail company is seeking a Principal Applications Architect (Hands-On) to play a pivotal role in shaping its technological landscape and driving strategic initiatives. This senior position involves hands-on leadership in designing, modernizing, and implementing scalable, cloud-native solutions across hybrid environments while collaborating closely with enterprise architecture, business stakeholders, and technical teams to support long-term growth and innovation. Pay rate: $90-$93/hr

Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressive, hands-on experience in IT Applications Engineering and Solutions Architecture, with a proven track record of designing and implementing complex, enterprise-scale solutions
- Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting, refactoring, and modernizing undocumented legacy codebases and systems
- Deep knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience architecting cloud-native and hybrid/multi-cloud solutions
- Strong understanding of key architecture domains including Applications Architecture, Integration Architecture, Security & Identity, Infrastructure, Observability, and Disaster Recovery
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence senior leadership, mentor teams, and present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field-
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience with modern development technologies such as Java, .NET, Node.js, React, microservices, and API design
- Working knowledge of ITIL, COBIT, SAFe, DevSecOps, Lean Architecture, and Agile/Waterfall methodologies
- Background in IT governance, risk management, and compliance (8+ years preferred)
- Prior experience in retail or consumer-facing industries
