Job Description
Insight Global is seeking to hire a Special Education Teacher to join a specialized school that focuses on delivering individualized instruction to students ages 8-22 with emotional disabilities, autism, or both.
This position requires a deep understanding of special education practices, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and a commitment to creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. Teachers are responsible for planning and delivering lessons, managing classroom dynamics, and maintaining compliance with all documentation and reporting requirements.
This position is based in Chicago, IL. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity that will convert to fulltime for the 2026-2027 school year.
Responsibilities & Essential Duties:
1. Instruction & Planning
- Develop lesson plans aligned with state standards and tailored to students’ IEPs.
- Design differentiated instruction using varied modalities and techniques.
- Create a positive, engaging, and self-motivating learning environment.
- Employ specialized instructional strategies and current technology.
2. Assessment & Progress Monitoring
- Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress.
- Administer state-mandated tests (e.g., IAR, PSAT, SAT).
- Monitor and document progress on academic and social-emotional goals.
3. Classroom Management
- Implement strategies that promote cooperation and problem-solving.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment.
- Enforce ISBE policies and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification.
4. Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with educators, clinicians, and administrators.
- Participate in school improvement initiatives and curriculum development.
- Communicate regularly with parents and case managers.
5. Documentation
- Write and manage IEPs for 5–10 students.
- Provide narrative progress reports 3–4 times per year.
- Maintain gradebooks, attendance records, and incident documentation.
- Track credits and collaborate with Student Services on transcripts.
6. Other Functions
- Attend weekly meetings and all meetings related to students on caseload.
- Participate in school events and required trainings (e.g., TCI, CPR/First Aid).
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience
-Bachelor’s degree in elementary education or a core content area in secondary education required.
-Illinois Special Education Certification (LBS1) required.
-Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification required (training provided upon employment).
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
-Master’s degree preferred
-Experience with Students with emotional disabilities and/or autism preferred.
