Job Description

We are seeking a skilled machinist that has fabrication and design experience. This is a hands-on role requiring creativity, precision, and the ability to work with brass and other metals in a fast-paced environment. You will play a key role in building custom lighting fixtures from start to finish, ensuring quality and artistry in every piece.

Responsibilities
•Set up, operate, and maintain manual machining equipment including lathes, mills, drill presses, saws, tapping machines, and related tools
•Machine, fabricate, and assemble architectural brass components, including hardware, decorative elements, fittings, trim, and custom parts
•Perform metal forming operations such as bending, rolling, shaping, and hand-forming of brass and other metals
•Interpret simple drawings, sketches, or dimensional specifications and translate them into complete, manufacturable products
•Develop machining and forming strategies, including tooling selection, workholding methods, and sequence of operations
•Perform layout, measuring, fitting, and assembly operations
•Maintain tight tolerances while meeting high standards for surface finish, appearance, and consistency
•Modify or refine designs during fabrication to improve function, aesthetics, or manufacturability
•Perform finishing operations such as deburring, polishing, sanding, brushing, or preparation for patination or coating
•Inspect completed parts to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards
•Maintain machines, tooling, and a clean, organized work area
•Follow all safety procedures, shop policies, and quality guidelines
•Collaborate with supervisors, designers, and project stakeholders as needed to meet project requirements and deadlines

Required Skills & Experience

•Proven experience as a manual machinist in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
•Demonstrated experience machining and fabricating with brass
•Experience with metal forming processes
•Brazing, soldering, and welding experience
•Ability to work independently from minimal documentation, including overall dimensions or simple sketches
•Strong understanding of machining principles, feeds, speeds, tooling, and tolerances
•Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
•Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Lighting industry experience.
- Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
